Shading, not security. The shutters we fit roll down outside the glass to handle sun, heat and glare. A security-rated shutter is a different product altogether, and we will quote one separately if that is what you are after.

How they're built
Foam-filled aluminium slats run in guided rails, in powder-coated colours matched to your frames or facade. The roller shutter box can be surface-mounted onto an existing wall or built into a new opening so it disappears completely. Motorised operation is standard, with manual override, and app, remote or schedule control on top.
Honest specification notes
Roller shutters change the look of a facade, so on heritage or aesthetics-committee-sensitive properties it's worth discussing placement before committing. They're a premium, per-opening product — we'll help you prioritise which windows take the worst of the sun and genuinely need shutting outside, versus which are better served by a lighter interior solution.
One practical bonus, rather than a reason to buy: a closed aluminium curtain also takes the hit in a highveld hailstorm, which exposed glazing on the ridge occasionally appreciates. It is a side-effect of the slat construction, not what we sell them for, and it is not a substitute for a security-rated product.

What an external shutter costs
A roller shutter is an aluminium curtain running in side guides outside the glass, with a headbox fixed to the facade, so it is the most substantial thing on this site and the band shows it: R3,500 to R5,500 per square metre installed hand-operated, and R5,000 to R7,000 motorised.
The guides, the box, the slat profile and what is actually behind the render all move a job inside that band, and a small opening still carries a minimum charge. These are shading shutters for heat, light and glare rather than a security-rated product, and that distinction is worth having straight before you compare quotes. Nothing exterior is priced from a photograph: the free measure reads the facade and the fixings first, and the written figure follows.
